Almost an Evening is a series of three one act plays:
Waiting: Nelson is waiting in a waiting room without a door. How did he get there? How can he leave? How long before he can leave? Surely somebody will know, right?
Four Benches: One, a British secret agent, is literally and figuratively in the dark. He is not alone though. With him is at least a very naked Texan. But who else is there? And did anyone hear that shot as well?
A couple of years ago I was the owner and moderator of a Yahoo! group called Books2Movies. It was a nice group with people from all over the world who liked to talk about books that had been made into movies. A few of the people even read a book a month and saw the movie to talk about it and share their thoughts. Questions were asked, answers were given…we had a good time.
Five women and one man come together every month to discuss a Jane Austen book. They are very different people with the love for Austen in common. Every month (is every chapter) another book is discussed at one of the group member’s home and the life story of that character is being highlighted in that particular chapter and throughout the story it becomes apparant everybody has had their own share of troubles, losses and other stuff that is common to life.
Yes, I’m all excited: Kieron Connolly is coming to “my” store, the American Book Center in The Hague, The Netherlands! He will be with us on Friday October 8th to participate in our Open Mike Night, where he will read from his latest book “Harold” and on Saturday October 9th to give a workshop and have a book signing afterward. So, should you be in the neighbourhood, be sure to come by.
